1. Welcome to tooth art
What tooth gems are, where they came from, and what a technician is responsible for.
What is tooth jewellery?
- Tooth gems are small crystals or gold pieces bonded to the outer surface of a tooth.
- Nothing is drilled: a correctly applied gem sits on the enamel and can be professionally removed.
- Pieces include flat-back crystals, 18-karat gold charms and custom gold designs.
A short history
- Decorating teeth goes back thousands of years: the Maya set jade and other stones into teeth.
- Modern bonded tooth gems became popular in Europe in the 1990s and are now a global beauty trend.
Your role as a technician
- Your first job is the client’s oral health, then the look.
- You work within the rules of your country, state and insurer — check them before you take a booking.
- This course teaches the theory. Hands-on practice under a qualified trainer is still essential.
Map it in the app before you touch the client.
Download the Finer Points app and build every design on the smile model before a single gem goes near a tooth. You choose the shape, size and colour, see it on a real smile, and then show the client exactly what they are getting — no guessing, no surprises in the chair.
Sell the look before you make it
A client who can see the finished smile agrees far more often than one who has to imagine it. Send them the mapped design, talk it through, and settle the look before you begin.
Upsell naturally
Once the first stone is on the model, another is a tap. Offer an extra gem, a larger size or a second shape and show the upgrade side by side — the design does the selling for you.
Work steadier at the chair
A mapped design tells you exactly where each stone sits, so placement is faster, cleaner and more accurate, and you are not deciding on the day.
Leave them with a keepsake
Export the branded design and share it. The client keeps a copy to show others, and you keep the reference for the next appointment.
Final quiz & certificate.
The quiz opens with the full course. Score 80% or more to download your certificate.
This is a certificate of completion of theory training. It is not a licence or accredited qualification. Practise under a qualified trainer and follow the rules where you work.
